For Fix Sake was founded in the heart of Wales in late 2015 by Peter Merridew, lifelong cyclist, product designer and mechanic. Peter spent most of his childhood cycling and racing UK wide in all disciplines, and has represented Wales and Britain at international events. His training began with Maindy Fliers cycling club in Cardiff, and he still regularly attends sessions as a helping hand and is a qualified cycling coach. Peter is heavily influenced by his engineer father who has passed on a love of cycling and motorbikes, and a passion for creating and fixing to make new. Peter recently spent three years in Melbourne, Australia, working as a bicycle mechanic and workshop manager. Upon his return to Wales with a new wife and child in tow, Peter noticed a gap in the market for time-poor commuters and leisure riders, and For Fix Sake was born.
The keystone of the business is the mobile workshop - a fully customised Mercedes Benz Sprinter, complete with workbench, integrated lighting, tools, equipment, magnetic shelving and enough bicycle components to shake a spoke at! The advantage of this vehicle is having a workshop at the client’s door, and for larger jobs requiring a little more time, bicycles can be safely transported inside.
Peter has attained Cytech Level 2, the industry professional qualification for bicycle mechanics, and having come into the profession through riding, truly understands how a bicycle should perform. He is always happy to dispense advice and teach clients general cycle maintenance.
We have public liability insurance up to £5 million to give clients peace of mind when they hand their beloved bicycles over.
For Fix Sake Ltd has been operating since December 2015 with support from Business Wales, Business in Focus and The Start Up Loans Company.
